2015 – COP21 – Slow Global Warming Down

The contest

Today NudgeFrance is thrilled to launch its first Nudge contest!

Organized in the context of the Paris 2015 UN Climate Change Conference, the NudgeChallenge is a 3-month Nudge-design hackathon that aims at generating citizen-level actions to mitigate global warming. Working in teams, participants will have to imagine Nudge concepts and introduce them in a video.

A mission: Slow Global Warming Down

Teams will work on daily-life challenges, finding Nudges that can foster behavioral changes with an impact on irrational conducts to help slow global warming down and help preserve the Earth’s resources!
Those challenges will be defined in very specific, behavioral matters and be tied in the core stakes of the UN Climate Change Conference: reducing energy consumption, water savings, protection of bio-diversity, reduction of polluting emissions…

How to participate?

  • The Nudge Challenge is open to all undergraduate students and above, in France and abroad.
To build your teams: we advise you to make teams of about 6 people to facilitate productivity.
You can form as many teams as you wish in the same establishment.

Your team will have to :

    1. Choose the challenge that your team wants to work on.
    2. Produce a video of about 3 minutes in French or in English (video hosted on youtube), to present:
        • The chosen behavioral challenge,
        • The associated issue,
        • The nudge that the team wants to put in place. You can choose to present a prototype of the nudge in the video, to allow the jury of NudgeFrance to better project your idea.
        • Who would be able to put this nudge in place (a city or another community, the State, an association, a company,…)
        • Ultimately, your team will present an experimental plan that will explain how to test the effectiveness of the nudge. The jury will particularly appreciate if you can perform this experiment to share results related to the effectiveness of your nudge.

Nudge Challenge Calendar

Both French and International teams will be able to enter the Video Contest. Videos will have to be submitted by October 31st – Extended Deadline November 15th – and then the Video Contest winner will be decided on December 9th. Teams have to contact us at nudgefrance@gmail.com to register!

Participation is free of charge.

          • Is it sufficiently accurate and realistic?
          • Is the associated stake high enough?
      • The Nudge :

          • Is a prototype provided?
          • Is it a good representation of the showcased nudge?
      • Reasons to believe in it :
          • Is the nudge based on well-known and effective levers of behavior?
          • Are the arguments convincing enough to support the idea of the nudge?
      • The video :
